Lafferty, 28, set a Goldeyes record by appearing in 55 games out of the bullpen last season, which bested his own record from the 2013 campaign. Prior to coming to Winnipeg, Lafferty was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 18th round of the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft. He played four seasons in their system, including parts of two seasons at Class AA. Following the 2012 season, he was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the Rule 5 Draft, but was released during spring training. Lafferty was also selected by the Phillies in 47th round of the 2004 MLB Amateur Draft out of Riverside Poly High School, but he elected to attend UCLA instead of signing.
